The experiment performed on his father was supposed to increase the potency of cells pertaining to certain human abilities, but a ‘chaos factor’ was somehow introduced, resulting in a many faceted range of ‘special’ conditions:

The most significant metabolic change was that of MetaKinetocis, which allows The Justice to emit special MetaBlasts via the MetaDusters worn on his fingers. The MetaBands worn on his forearms allow the same energy to be channelled in another way enabling rapid flight over limited distances.

The MetaKinetics also resulted in night vision, but The Justice suffers from colour blindness, which is remedied by a pair of strikingly multi coloured SpectrumLenses.

Another bodily drawback and by far the most alarming, is the resultant condition of EtherCell, which may or may not kill Roland in the future - it has, however, already claimed the life of his father, Captain Wayne ‘Super’ Burrell’.
